60. calea victoriei

Three outfits of my former lover (bathrobe, nightgown, trousers and blouse) displayed in the window of a deserted shop on Calea Victoriei, one of the main roads in the city. Black and white paint on plastic panel signboard (3,65 x 0,85 m), black and white paint on window frames. Printed text on sheets of paper, telling the story of each outfit and its personal relevance. Romanian wording on the signboard ('hainele iubitei' = 'my lover's clothes') and on the shop door ('inchis' = 'closed').

The work took three full days to prepare (scraping posters off the windows, cleaning the windows, painting the signboard and the window frames, hanging the outfits on cardboard holders).

It only lasted for half an hour in its final state, due to the fact that I was caught by the guards of the building. I was then turned in to the police, along with a friend who helped finalize the work and we both had to pay a fine. More here.

59. memorial of rebirth

Old computer keyboard, erased letters on the keys using a cutter during three hours of work. The keyboard was then glued to the Memorial of Rebirth. Only 'shift' and 'delete' keys were not erased, as in windows operating systems, this key combination designates permanent removal of files from the hard disk.

The memorial was built in honor of those who died during the Revolution of 1989 in Bucharest, Romania. However, its building is controversial due to the amount of money spent, the placement and the design of the monumental object, the legal aspects of the commissioning of the work. More here.

58. rail tracks

Two handmade railroad crossing signs placed on electricity posts. Black and white paint on wood, screws, metal band. Chalk on asphalt, intermittent line drawn over the rail tracks buried in the asphalt. Chalk lines disappeared almost completely until the morning, erased by the tires of the few passing cars.

Near the location of a former industrial bakery demolished in order to build blocks of flats. The real estate company covered the rail tracks to ease traffic in the area. Rail traffic was discontinued and the track is no longer in use. More here.

White chalk on shop front. Romanian wording ('sufletul meu e mort' = 'my soul is dead / I am dead inside'). Over the street from a high school in Bucharest. The intervention initially involved black and white paint, but I was caught and had to abandon my work. The writing is still there, although eight months have passed. More here.

45. creedalizer

I admire Martin Creed for his humor and his ideas. While browsing on the web for information about him, I found The Creedalizer, a sarcastic generator of works in Creed's manner. I took one of the descriptions there and materialized it. However, the results are available to only a select few, on a private blog.

44. led bombing

Red leds and 3 volts batteries ( x 16 pieces), red plasticine applied on 8 statues in the historical center of Sibiu.

43. historical monument

In 2007 the city of Sibiu was declared European Cultural Capital. The historical center was renovated and all restored buildings were equipped with historical monument plates. However, once you went out of the citadel area, there was nothing to remind the viewer of a prestigious, glorious past.

I copied the format of the plates, along with the necessary information. A nice young lady produced a real historical monument plate at my request. It was designed for a block of flats built in the 70s outside the city center. I then pasted the plastic plate onto the building, creating a 20th century historical monument. More here.
